Air Fryer Frozen Toad In The Hole
What if I told you that this air fryer toad in the hole has been sat waiting to be published for more than 14 months? You are probably like “Samantha, does it really take that long to do a frozen recipe”.
Well, the truth is, like I often mention on the blog, is that living in Portugal there is often a lack of UK and US staples. Great for following the Mediterranean diet, but terrible if you want to eat toad in the hole.
So, two Christmases ago I found some yummy frozen mini toad in the holes from our Portuguese version of Iceland. You got 12 mini ones and I thought they would be perfect for sharing with you.
I air fried them, wrote down time and temps and then in my wisdom decided they would be better paired together with a frozen toad in the hole ready meal.
Waited and waited, another Christmas happened and then finally, around the same time Iceland started stocking TGI Friday Boneless Wings, I saw them sat there looking up at me asking me to air fry them:
I took them home and the same day, we air fried them and shared them in the Milner kitchen. Just because with them being so small there was no way they would feed two of us, let alone a family of five. But if you are a single person or a couple these are ideal for just throwing in the air fryer for lunch or dinner.
How Do You Cook Frozen Toad In The Hole?
In the air fryer of course. The air fryer is fantastic for cooking a frozen toad in the hole. Load into the air fryer basket and then let the air fryer do its magic.
You can also do a preheat on your air fryer and then it will be piping hot just like it would be if you were cooking a homemade toad in the hole.
What Is Toad In The Hole?
Toad in the hole is when the British classic Yorkshire pudding is loaded with thick British sausages. The hole is the Yorkshire pudding and the sausages are the toads. As someone that is from Yorkshire you can imagine how many times I have enjoyed toad in the hole or Yorkshire puddings.
If you make a family size toad in the hole you will use about 6 sausages.
Because Yorkshire pudding is an easy batter similar to making pancakes it is a very cheap family dinner.
People also refer to it as Yorkshire pudding toad in the hole. This is because a toad in the hole features Yorkshire pudding batter.
Air Fryer Yorkshire Puddings
Talking about the Yorkshire pudding, we also have a recipe for air fryer Yorkshire pudding. It has both homemade and frozen in there and it is ideal for making before you do toad in the hole so that you can understand it if you have not eaten Yorkshire puddings or toad in the hole before.
Why Is Toad In The Hole Flat?
The biggest issue with toad in the hole is it going flat. And there is one main reason for this. You need your batter so hot it is almost spitting at you when you add in the sausages. Otherwise as the batter drops into the sausages it will go flat rather than rise.

How To Reheat Frozen Toad In The Hole?
Just like above, but with a cook time of 160c/320f for 6 minutes for small ones, or 10 minutes for a bigger toad in the hole. But because air fryer sizes vary and so do portion sizes check that they are piping hot throughout before serving and adjust cook time if needed.
What Do You Have With Toad In The Hole?
The best side dish to have with toad in the hole is our instant pot no drain mashed potatoes. Then add in some of your favourite onion gravy. Or to make it even more British have toad in the hole, mashed potatoes, onion gravy and garden peas.
Or if you are feeding more people and have a smaller toad in the hole I would recommend adding in some extra vegetables such as our instant pot frozen vegetables medley.
