Air Fryer Frozen Cheese Pizza Bagels

Just like Kevin McCallister in Home Alone my dream pizza is always a delicious cheese pizza all to myself.

Cheese pizza is the best.

Or should I say cheese pizza bagels are the best?

I hate pepperoni, ham, tuna and mushrooms on top of my pizza. They are my most hated pizza toppings and they are on most pizzas. Well not all together at the same time, but you’re nearly always guaranteed one of those pizza toppings.

I just happen to love cheese.

A homemade tomato sauce base followed by lots of cheese and a sprinkling of dried oregano and I am there.

No wonder then, that today, I am showing you how simple and delicious it is to make air fryer frozen cheese pizza bagels with just a few ingredients.

Air Fryer Frozen Cheese Pizza Bagels

Making frozen cheese pizza bagels in the air fryer is so simple.

Firstly, you defrost the frozen bagels in the air fryer and at the same time, you can be making a quick homemade tomato sauce to go on your bagels.

Once the bagels are defrosted load up your bagels with tomato sauce, cheese and place back into the air fryer.

At this point you can tidy up your prep mess and then wait for the air fryer to beep.

Then hey presto you have delicious cheese pizza bagels!

My kids have fallen head over heels in love with these and when chopped in half it feels like you get a lot more pizza bagel than you expected. Pre-schoolers will be very happy having a half each.

Why Air Fryer Frozen Bagels?

I find that the food that we waste the most in the world is baked goods. Every time I visit a supermarket, they will always have bread marked down in price that must be used that day. If I need to make breadcrumbs for a recipe, then I will grab one and put one in the freezer for later.

But there is only so much bread families can get through and I just wish that supermarkets would make less as the level of waste is crazy.

The same can be said for many baked goods.

Cookies, pastries, doughnuts, wraps and even bagels all fall into the same trap.

But people forget about the bagels and they just get left, while we fill our freezers with bread. I love to buy bagels as they make a delicious Plan B for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even brunch. You can keep it simple and load it up with Philadelphia or you can do what I am doing today and grab your frozen bagels and turn it into delicious air fryer frozen pizza.

Recipe Ingredients:

Instructions

  • Grab your bagels from the freezer and place them whole in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook for 5 minutes at 120c/250f to allow the bagel to defrost and be soft enough for slicing.
  • After 5 minutes slice the bagels in half and lay them out on a chopping board.
  • Layer them with your favourite pizza toppings.
  • Place back in the air fryer and cook for 3 minutes on 200c/400f.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

For pizza toppings, I added a tablespoon of my homemade tomato sauce and then a slice of cheddar cheese. Then on top I added a sprinkling of dried oregano. I also used a pair of scissors to chop the cheese slice to the shape of the bagel. It is important that you push down the cheese on the tomato sauce.
Otherwise the cheese will come off from the air circulation. If you don’t have time to make a homemade tomato sauce, then mix some tinned tomatoes in a blender with a little tomato paste, a teaspoon of dried oregano and a teaspoon of soft cheese.
