Air Fryer Carrot Chips
You probably want to know what the story is behind these air fryer carrot chips. After all, us Milner’s have been air frying for a decade and you probably want to know when the air fryer carrot chips became our thing!
Well its not as far back as some of our air fryer recipes. We first made air fryer chips when we first discovered Paleo and did a round of the Whole30 back in 2015.
It was about six months before we started Recipe This and we were craving fries.
There was a load of leftover carrots in the bottom of the fridge and we decided to give fries a go made from carrots.
They were a disaster. Too dry and too much of a crunch like raw carrot sticks. But we tried again and again and perfected them.
Now they are a go to when we need something to do with dinner and we can quickly peel and slice some carrots and have carrot chips in a hurry.
Air Fryer Carrot Chips Vs Air Fryer Carrot Fries
If you are in the US, you might be looking at our pictures of air fryer carrot chips and want to shout those are AIR FRYER CARROT FRIES.
Well that is 100% correct and it’s a case of a different name for them at other sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Over in England fries are always called chips and what you call in the US chips is always referred to as crisps. This leads to a big confusion when Brits are on vacation in the US.
Can You Air Fry Carrot Chips?
Absolutely! Just think of air fryer carrot chips, like doing regular air fryer chips and you are on the road to air fryer carrot success. That is because they are peeled and sliced the same way, can have the same seasoning, have oil added at the same time and then are air fried.
The only big difference with air fried carrots is that they have a longer cook time and that you need to be more cautious with the air fryer temperature that you choose.
Air Fryer Carrot Fries No Oil?
No matter how many times you try this, air fryer carrot fries with no oil are awful. I know we all want to cut the oil when we air fry but going without no oil at all is a total cooking disaster.
Imagine if you tried to cook carrot fries in the oven without oil. I bet nobody would eat them!!!
Well with the air fryer you are making carrot fries with hardly any oil, but you still need oil. Making them ideal for WW and SW.
How To Air Fry Carrot Chips?
Cooking carrot chips in air fryer is one of the EASIEST EVER air fryer recipes.
- Peel and dice carrots into the shape of chips/fries.
- Toss in a bowl with your air fryer carrot seasoning.
- Air fry + shake + cook some more.
- Serve with extra maple glaze and plenty of parmesan cheese.
There is a little bit more to air fryer carrot fries, but that is the basics.
Air Fried Carrot Sticks
As you can see from the photos and from the info above, these air fryer carrot chips are essentially just air fried carrot sticks.
That means that if you want to save time on prep, you can buy ready prepped carrot sticks, load them in the seasonings and air fry them.
It is also a great use out of leftover carrot sticks you have in your fridge that need using up.

Loved your air fryer roasted carrots & these air fryer carrot fries are just as good. I served mine with roasted cherry tomatoes and salmon.

THE best carrots I’ve ever had. I’ve made your air fryer recipes multiple times now and they’re always a hit!
Yum! Yum! Yum! These are so good and so easy to make. Great recipe thank you.
Great recipe! I used pre-sliced tri-color carrots, avocado oil, and organic Italian seasoning. After air-frying them at 380 for about 12 min total (including flipping), I added sprinkle parmesan cheese and drizzled them honey, instead of maple syrup. Cooking time will determine if the carrots end up crunchy or not. Delicious!
Your carrots sound delicious and glad you liked our recipe 🙂
