Jammie Dodger Cake
British born I grew up on yummy Jammie Dodgers, in fact, they were my dad’s favourite ever biscuit and there was always a stash of them in the kitchen cupboard. Or when visiting my grandma she always had a mega collection waiting for my dad.
Moving to Portugal we have a British supermarket which stocks Iceland and Waitrose produce, and they run regular deals on the jammie dodgers.
I will buy a few packs and then have a good supply at home for the kids. Though, of course, the hubby and I, like to tuck into them too.
I mean who doesn’t love a jammie dodger?
So, when Kyle’s 19th birthday was coming up, I had been gifted a lot of different cake moulds. One of these was for a giant jammie dodger cake, another was for a giant oreo and another was for a giant party ring. I asked him which one he would like for his birthday and the jammie dodger won and here I am today sharing with you the exact cake I made for Kyle for his birthday.
Why Is A Jammie Dodger Called A Jammie Dodger?
In the comic book Beano, there is a character called Roger The Dodger and he was always dodging his homework. That is where the Dodger comes from and then jammie refers to the delicious jam filling. Add them together and you have the British classic jammie dodgers.
Who Makes Jammie Dodgers?
Can I be cheesy and say that YOU now make jammie dodgers as you have the perfect recipe to do so. Or if you wanted to know which brand created and sells jammie dodgers in the supermarkets across England then it is Burton’s.
Can You Get Jammie Dodgers In America?
Yes you can. Amazon stocks jammie dodgers in the US and you can see the range here. Though, like anything that is imported you will pay a premium for the privilege.
Homemade Jammie Dodgers
But you can beat the cost of imported jammie dodgers by making your own at home. This homemade jammie dodgers biscuit recipe I am sharing with you today, can either be used for regular sized jammie dodger biscuits or for making a giant jammie dodger cake.
Its simple to make and is no harder than making a regular biscuit and then cooking it in the air fryer.
How To Make Jammie Dodgers?
Making air fryer jammie dodgers is super easy:
- Make your dough
- Load into a giant jammie dodger mould
- Air fry
- Add jam
- Air fry + serve
There is a little bit more to a giant jammie dodger cake but that is the basics.
How Do You Add The Jam To Your Jammie Dodger Cake?
This is rather easy and don’t think that you have to slice up the cake for a jam layer because you don’t.
When you use the jammie dodgers cake mould (this is one we have) it leaves a heart mark on your biscuit. Simply cut around this and then spoon out the biscuit and spoon in a layer of jam.
Then place the jammie dodger cake back in the air fryer oven and let it finish its cooking.
