Welcome to how to make Syn free burgers in the Air fryer. This is a REAL taste sensation for anybody that loves burgers but is on a diet.
They’re made completely fat free with absolutely no oil. They are full of amazing flavours and transform you back to the old fashioned American diner experience.
My first ever experiences of homemade burgers growing up was one of two. Trips to McDonalds or family barbecues.
McDonalds was something that my Grandparents mainly took me to as my parents were not that keen as they realised how rubbish the food was and it was only ever done to keep me happy!
But then I got older and I earned my own money and when you were working about 5 doors away from McDonalds you could nip in there for your lunch in between shifts.
It was great and I could get what I wanted and then know that I would burn the calories off at work. I would probably do this most Saturdays in my early teens.
I would have either the McChicken sandwich or the Big Mac and then wash it down with a delicious banana milkshake. It was teenage heaven!
Then also in the summer months there would be a family member having a barbecue. We would have thick British sausages, freezer bought burgers, hot dogs and loads of other things.
But that was about as good as the burgers got. I just didn’t know any different. A trip to Hard Rock Café in 2012 and then a trip to the US six months later soon changed my mind.
I realised that burgers that have a little effort put into them, can be so truly amazing.
While we were in America we experienced some delicious burgers.
We went to a 50’s style diner, we had big fat burgers at Planet Hollywood (the burger was amazing but the service was terrible) and my late uncle introduced me to Wendys.
This was five years ago (we were there exactly 5 years ago to the date this was published). Even now Dominic still mentions that he wishes there was a Wendys in Portugal.
Though maybe a good thing, as we would only get fatter!
But it was also around the same time that we got our first Airfryer. We soon realised that we could make the most amazing homemade burgers that would rival a good burger diner and that we could make them without fat.
In other words eat these burgers and they will help you lose weight!!!
Syn Free Burgers
You’re probably wondering how they are Syn Free as after all burgers can’t possibly be Syn Free can they? Well yes they can and they are ?
Featuring cheese and bread from your healthy allowances, absolutely no oil added and then crisped up in the Airfryer.
It works out at 1 healthy extra A for the cheese and then 1 healthy extra B for the bread. Easy to remember and perfect for if you want to save your Syns.
How To Make Syn Free Burgers In The Airfryer
- Mix the Philadelphia in a mixing bowl with your minced beef and all your other seasonings along with your diced onion and Worcester sauce. Mix well and make them into 4 burger shapes.
- Place them in the fridge for an hour to chill them.
- After an hour remove them from the fridge and place them on your grill pan inside of your Airfryer.
- Cook for 12 minutes on 180c/356f.
- Add some cheddar cheese to the tops of them and then cook for another 4 minutes on 160c/320f so that they are cooked in the middle and to allow the cheese to melt on top.
- Serve inside wholemeal bread buns with lettuce and a side serving of onion rings.
My favourite way in the world to serve my Syn Free Burgers is with my flourless onion rings. They are like genius in the Airfryer and make the crispiest onion rings you have ever tried. Plus they are super healthy too.
I suggest that while you are plating up your burgers that you give these a blast in your Airfryer while you’re waiting.
How Many Calories In A Syn Free Burger?
The benefit of the Slimming World diet has always been the fact that you don’t have to count calories.
I mean who seriously wants to? After all when you cook from scratch trying to work out how many calories that something has can be a real nightmare.
But not everyone that reads our blog is on Slimming World and I am sure you are also curious to how many calories it works out at.
Well without further introduction each of my burgers (including the bun and the garnish) is 475 calories.
Considering this includes the bread bun and a lot of cheese I don’t think it has come in badly!
Homemade Syn Free Burger Vs Burger King Whopper
Now how about comparing this to the Burger King Whopper? It is of a similar size and lets see how much better off you are in your diet by making your own.
As you know my burger works out at 475 calories. A whopper sandwich which is about the same size works out at 710 calories.
Its hard to believe that a fast food version could be 235 more calories considering my healthy version has more cheese!
