Reheating Pulled Pork

I know most will be reading this and wondering why other people have pulled pork leftover ready to reheat.

Especially those that follow us Milner’s and know that we are a family of five!!!

Well, our favourite Saturday night supper is always the same. One slow cooker with chicken wings, another slow cooker with the pulled pork, air fryer potato wedges and then a quick cobb salad.

When we had finished eating there would always be a mix of leftovers, though nobody ever left any potato wedges!

Then we would load the leftovers into the fridge and get excited about what we would have for lunch the next day from the leftovers.

Often, it would be air fryer pulled pork taco bowls, or the pork would be loaded into a salad to make a pulled pork cobb salad or we might use the pulled pork in a soup.

What I wanted to do today, was to show you how to reheat your pulled pork easily in the air fryer, so that you can use up your own leftovers.

Can You Reheat Pork After Its Being Cooked?

Yes, you can. But you want to make sure that your leftover pulled pork is moved to the fridge as soon as possible.

Pork that is left out in the heat can generate bacteria and if you know you have pork left, then load it into the fridge ready for reheating the next day.

Or when you sit down to eat and you have too much pork, then place it in the fridge first.

How Many Times Can You Reheat Pulled Pork?

You MUST ONLY reheat pulled pork ONCE.

This is so important because if pulled pork is reheated more than once there is a lot more bacteria going about and a high chance of you catching salmonella.

What I recommend you do is ONLY reheat what you are going to be eating right now and then reheat the rest later.

How To Store Pulled Pork Overnight?

I recommend that you store your pulled pork leftovers in an airtight container. This is because it stops your pulled pork from drying out and being a bad taste experience when reheated the next day.

Or alternatively, wrap in cling film.

How Long Is Pulled Pork Good For?

Pulled pork is good for 3 days if it has been placed in the fridge straight after consuming your original pulled pork.

It is recommended that you reheated pulled pork in the first three days for the best results and to avoid any health complaints from your pulled pork.

You can also freeze pulled pork once it is fully chilled and store in your freezer for up to 3 months.

Best Way To Reheat Pulled Pork?

I have found that the best way to reheat pulled pork is in the air fryer. You can also use a small amount of pulled pork and turn it into a bigger meal.

Such as making our air fryer calzone and filling them with pulled pork instead of our cheese and ham. Or loading leftover pulled pork over our air fryer pan pizza.

But out of all the different ways that you can reheat pulled pork I have two favourites that I am sharing with you today.

Pulled Pork Tacos – This is probably the most delicious option and you don’t need that much leftover pork, for it to become a good meal. You can warm up tacos in the air fryer first, then fill them with pulled pork and finish the reheating process. Then enjoy them for lunch with a side salad or some potato wedges.

Ramekin Bowls – This is the easiest option especially when you have other leftovers too. And I will be sharing the full recipe with you below for this option.

But what is AMAZING about the ramekin bowls is that you can load other foods in the air fryer to reheat at the SAME TIME.

Take a look at this photo:

We are reheating bbq food.

This is literally the best way to reheat bbq food and you are using the air fryer to reheat pulled pork, corn on the cob and baked potatoes together. Perfect for the day after you had family around for a barbecue and have plenty of leftovers that you want to use up.

You can also load up your plate with other leftovers that were not used up too for the ultimate leftover meal.

It is so easy to heat up pulled pork in the air fryer:

  1. Load pulled pork into ramekins.
  2. Add liquid.
  3. Air fry + stir.
  4. Serve.

You can probably see now why I am so obsessed with reheating leftovers in the air fryer.

How Long Does It Take To Reheat Pulled Pork?

This depends on how much pulled pork you are reheating. But for a small portion like this in ramekins it is JUST 6 minutes on a 160c/320f temperature.

When I am reheating pulled pork leftovers and also reheating corn on the cob and baked potatoes this is how I will adjust the cook times:

Baked Potatoes go in first for two minutes (or see our reheating baked potatoes post) and then because the corn and the pulled pork both have a six minute cook time they can go in together.

Then when the air fryer beeps you have a delicious reheated dinner.
