Air Fryer Salisbury Steak Burgers
If you were to name all your favourite comfort foods, I am certain that burgers would be on that list. They are one of those super quick air fryer favourites, that you can make as healthy or unhealthy as you like.
I like it when I am tired to mix some meat quickly in a big bowl, with my seasonings and then put them in the air fryer and I have lunch or dinner. Its no hassle and its super easy!
My latest favourite is Salisbury Steak Burgers. They are a unique alternative to the air fryer hamburgers I normally cook.
When I make Salisbury Steak Burgers, I will often make them in bulk and freeze them raw. That way I can grab one out of the freezer whenever I like and alongside my favourite Instant Pot Mushroom Sauce I have dinner on the table. Or if it is closer to summer, I will serve them with a nice garden salad and some air fryer French fries.
What Is Salisbury Steak?
Firstly, I am sure what you really want to know is what is Salisbury Steak? Salisbury Steak is a traditional burger with a spicy kick that was often served to you in school in the US. The spices come from the paprika and the mustard and some versions also include cayenne pepper.
It is nice to have as a burger on its own, but Salisbury Steak is more common for being served in a creamy mushroom sauce and served with some potatoes. We also have a classic Instant Pot version via our Pressure Cooker Salisbury Steak With Creamy Mushroom Sauce.
How To Make Salisbury Steak Burgers?

Salisbury Steak burgers are easy to make. Throw all the burger ingredients into a mixing bowl. Mix it together with your hands and form into burger patties. Then cook in the air fryer via the air fryer grill pan.
You really can’t get any more basic than that!
Salisbury Steak Burgers are also the type of air fryer recipe you could make with your kids or batch freeze, like I have already mentioned.
The main ingredients in Salisbury Steak Burgers are:
- Minced Beef
- White Onion
- Garlic
- Tomato Paste
- Worcester Sauce
- Mustard
- Paprika
- Salt & Pepper
When I made my own Salisbury Steak Burgers, I had all the ingredients in. There is nothing complicated in the ingredients list and its also easy to source. I also recommend using minced beef from Butcher Box for your Salisbury steak.
Compared to other ground beef, it is not overly fatty, and it means that you don’t need breadcrumbs or other ingredients to bind the burgers and keeps them low carb and healthy.

#1 Air Fryer Accessory

You need an air fryer grill pan to make delicious Salisbury steak burgers in the air fryer. This is because the burgers sit nicely on the grill pan and any excess fat drips down into the bottom. A bit like the process of when you cook a burger on a BBQ compared to baking it in the oven.
It slots into the air fryer as a Plan B to the air fryer basket and we use it for a lot of our grilling recipes.
