Skin On Air Fryer French Fries

Skin On Air Fryer French Fries. The lazy way to cook homemade French Fries in the Air Fryer. Cooked with a tiny amount of olive oil and you would think you had just eaten deep fried fries.

The air fryer craze was originally invented for Air Fryer French Fries. It is lovely to eat Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken, Air Fryer French Toast and of course Air Fryer chocolate chip cookies, but letโ€™s go back to the roots of air fryer cooking and explore lots of new air fryer French Fries recipes.

This is the first in our air fryer French Fries series and youโ€™re welcome to follow us along at home as we show you some new ideas for making Air Fryer French Fries.

Today, we are showing you our recipe for skin on air fryer French Fries.

The inspiration behind this is when you have those spare misshaped potatoes and they just donโ€™t seem worth the effort to peel them.

If you did peel them, you would have one tiny cube of potato and it wouldnโ€™t be worth it.

Instead you can use those old potatoes by removing the eyes, giving them a clean and then turning them into skin on Air Fryer French Fries.

Or when you are feeling tired and you would normally ring for a takeaway.

Because you literally just chip them and add a little olive oil, they are completely effortless.

Another reason to go with skin on air fryer French Fries is that just like jacket/baked potatoes, you have the goodness of the fibre with the potato skin.

Or think of skin on Air Fryer French Fries just like you do with jacket potatoes. You would normally bake them and then add a little butter to them so that the butter melts, followed by your toppings of choice.

Well when you make these air fryer French Fries youโ€™re matching the calories for butter vs olive oil.

So, on those diets that suggest you have jacket potatoes for lunch, you can swap it for these skin on Air Fryer French Fries instead!

If you havenโ€™t got yourself an air fryer yet, then we have the Philips Air Fryer XL. It is a good size so perfect for cooking air fryer French Fries without feeling like your potatoes are getting overcrowded.

#1 Grab Your White Potatoes

I always go with the misshaped ones that need using up and that are too annoying to peel. Then give them a good wash and scrub along with removing any eyes.

#2 Chip Your Potatoes

We all have different opinions as to the correct thickness of a chip. I prefer mine chunky.

Not as thick as the ones you get from a steak restaurant but thicker than the ones you get from McDonalds.

Whatever your preferred style using a vegetable knife or a potato chipper, chip your French Fries.

#3 Season & Cook

Once you have sliced up your air fryer French Fries then place them in a mixing bowl, throw in the seasoning and using your hands mix well.

Then add your olive oil and give it another mix. After you have done this, place the French Fries in the air fryer and cook.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Scrub your potatoes.
  • Remove any eyes and then slide them into French Fries.
  • Place the sliced potatoes into a bowl, add all of your seasoning, the olive oil, mix well with your hands and then place them in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook for 15 minutes at 180c/360f.
  • Shake half way through and serve with mayonnaise or ketchup once cooked.

Notes

You can use 2 large white potatoes or several small ones. We used about 10 small potatoes that needed using up and were way too small for jacket potatoes. Triple the thickness of them and cook for 20 minutes instead and you have potato wedges.
Because of the olive oil and the skin being on, you donโ€™t need to pre-soak the air fryer French fries.
