Ninja Foodi Sweet Potato Fries
If you have been following along with me on my Ninja Foodi series, you will know that I have shared with you how to use the Ninja Foodi and Ninja Foodi Hard Boiled Eggs.
If not, you can click the links above, and follow our Ninja Foodi series. The reason for the Ninja Foodi series is that I wanted to help others that are just starting out with the Ninja Foodi learn the ropes and watch over my shoulder as I use it.
I have been using the instant pot and the air fryer for many years and love the idea of 2 of my favourite gadgets becoming one.
The second time we used our Ninja Foodi we made sweet potato fries. I am a HUGE sweet potato fries addict and with lots of sweet potatoes in our kitchen it felt like the perfect recipe to make next.
I am a huge fan of meal prep and making ahead whenever I can. I want to be able to grab some sweet potato fries from the fridge that are already peeled and sliced and load them into the Ninja.
Just like if you were making Ninja Foodi frozen fries, you could load them up, season as you please and let the Ninja Foodi work its magic.
Ninja Foodi Sweet Potato Chips
Or if you are in the UK you might call them Ninja Foodi Sweet Potato Chips.
I was born in the UK and as we chat to more and more Americans every day, I have started calling them Sweet Potato Fries instead.
But it really doesn’t matter what you call them, just note that they are delicious when cooked in any air fryer, especially the Ninja Foodi.
Similar to what you would have if you ordered sweet potato chips in the pub. They have a crisp to them and you can season them with whatever you like.
Making Sweet Potato Fries In Ninja Foodi
I must admit I was a little nervous the first time making sweet potato fries in the Ninja Foodi. I had not used the air fryer part of the Ninja and really didn’t know what to expect.
I am not a big fan of fries in the air fryer oven and wondered what the result would be like.
Well as soon as I grabbed a sweet potato fry out of the Ninja and almost burnt my tongue I was in love and many more batches of sweet potato fries swiftly followed.
For me, it’s all about homemade sweet potato fries in the Ninja Foodi. When sweet potatoes are in season it is fantastic and because you are choosing how much oil to add and what seasoning to include, you can pair the seasonings with what else you are serving with your fries.
The best way to achieve ninja foodi crispy sweet potato fries is to season your sweet potatoes and oil them before loading them into the air fryer basket.
That way the seasoning will add to the crisp on the sweet potato and make them even better.
I also disagree with the cook times that Ninja promotes and what many air fryer brands promote.
They go in way too hot and you end up with dry fries and you don’t have that amazing texture you get when you eat out.
What I will be showing you today is the dual cook times that I use whenever I make any fries in the air fryer at home.
How To Cook Sweet Potato Fries In Ninja Foodi?
The quick version of a sweet potato fries in Ninja Foodi goes as follows:
- Peel and slice your sweet potatoes.
- Toss sweet potatoes in seasoning and oil.
- Load into the air fryer basket.
- Air fry + serve.
There is a little more to it than that, but those are the simple basics!
How Long To Cook Sweet Potato Fries In Ninja Foodi?
We found that a cook time of 25 minutes is ideal for sweet potato fries in the Ninja Foodi. I was keen to see how this compared to regular air fryer sweet potato fries.
I would normally cook sweet potato fries for 12 minutes at a lower temperature then give it a 5 minute blast to make the sweet potato fries crispy.
But what I found is that the Ninja Foodi needed 20 minutes to cook and then 5 minutes to make them crispy.
However, the Ninja Foodi is quicker to clean and they tasted the same.

Hello,
I have also used the Ninja Foodi recipe and found it not to my liking, then I happened to find your recipe and gave it a shot… Wonderful! Thank you. I’ll be using this one from now on.
Those look like white potatoes to me … are you sure this is a sweet potato fries recipe?
Hi Nate,
Yes you can get 2 types of sweet potato, everything is explained here:
https://northernnester.com/types-of-sweet-potatoes/
Essentially there are alot of different varieties of sweet potato and the ones we use in this recipe have a white inside where the more common one is more orange, but these are sweet potatoes just a different variety 🙂
