Air Fryer Oven Frozen French Fries
If you didn’t get the memo or read our last post about it, we are new owners of an Air Fryer Oven, or to be exact we have the Power Air Fryer Oven Pro.
Though here in Europe it goes by its European name of the Power Air Fryer Oven Deluxe.
If you have missed our introduction to our new Air Fryer Oven I recommend you read our Power Air Fryer Oven Unboxing and watch the video.
For those of you that are new to Recipe This, let me tell you that we are Air Fryer addicts. After getting our first one many, many years ago, we have preferred the Philips brand. We have more than 300 Air Fryer Recipes on the blog.
But we always feel restricted like we want more of a food area to work with and that is the main reason why we have purchased an Air Fryer Oven.
It is an exciting time and like most new Air Fryer owners we want to cook frozen French fries in the air fryer and this is exactly what we are doing today.
BUT to make it more interesting, we are trying 2 different ways to make air fryer oven French fries and including a video of us as we cook them.
Power Air Fryer Oven Frozen Fries – 2 Ways
I was reading a thread recently on a Facebook Group and it was talking about the different types of Power Air Fryer Ovens. And how confusing it is because there is not a standard one.
You have Power Air Fryer Oven Plus, Power Air Fryer Oven Pro, Power Air Fryer Oven, Power Air Fryer Elite, Power Air Fryer Oven Deluxe and the list goes on and on.
But the one big difference between different models of the Power Air Fryer Oven and other Air Fryer Oven brands too, is if they come with the basket or not.
We have the Power Air Fryer Oven Deluxe which is the same as the pro and ours does come with the basket and you can see our air fryer oven basket above.
This is the best way to cook frozen French fries in the air fryer oven and this is the main way we recommend you cook frozen French fries.
However, if you don’t have an air fryer oven basket with your air fryer oven, I recommend using the rotating basket. And this will be the other version of air fryer oven frozen fries that we will be sharing with you.
Also, by trying out 2 different versions of cooking Air Fryer Oven Frozen French Fries, we can decide which one tastes the best and choose the best one for future frozen French fries’ binges.
Air Fryer Oven Frozen French Fries #1
The first version of our air fryer oven frozen French fries is made using the rotating basket. Firstly, the frozen French fries are placed into the rotating basket and the rotating basket is locked into place inside the air fryer oven.
You need all the air fryer oven shelves removing before you can do this.
Once this is done, you set your air fryer oven time and temperature and it will go into preheat mode, before starting to cook your frozen fries.
You don’t have to do anything now, just wait for it to finish its cycle, adjust the temperature and finish the cooking process.
Air Fryer Oven Frozen French Fries #2
The second version of our air fryer oven frozen French fries is very similar. You are following the same cooking time; the only difference is that you’re using the air fryer basket and clip on handle instead.
The air fryer oven basket reminds me of the one you get with your deep fat fryer and we added 500g of frozen French fries and still didn’t even fill it half full.
For families this will ideal thanks to the size. Or you could cook frozen French fries in your air fryer basket alongside other food such as chicken or fish.
The Best Air Fryer Oven Frozen French Fries
When you watch our video below, you will see that we tried different temperatures and different baskets to cook perfect air fryer oven frozen French fries, what we have learnt most from this is:
- You need to finish the cooking process at 200c/400f. This is because if you don’t, the fries will be soggy and won’t have that delicious deep-fried texture.
- The perfect cooking time is 10 minutes at 180c/360f followed by 5 minutes at 200c/400f. Its an easy temperature to remember and one that we plan on using repeatedly.
- The basket can cook 1 kilo (2.2lbs) of frozen French fries at once, making it perfect for families.
- The heat is like a deep fat fryer. I can’t believe how hot the Air Fryer Oven gets compared to the Philips Air Fryer that I have previously used. I also believe this is due to the air coming out of the sides rather than the top.
