Air Fryer Kale Chips. Fresh kale tossed in salt, pepper and extra virgin olive oil, then cooked until crispy in the air fryer.
Air Fryer Kale Chips
Air Fryer Kale Chips to me and many others is like magic food. The fact that something as simple as kale, can be quickly seasoned, thrown in the air fryer and then made crispy.
It is the perfect quick healthy snack and once you try air fryer kale chips there will be no going back.
I first tried kale chips back in 2015, after first discovering the Paleo diet. I had a big sample batch of them sent from a brand on Amazon and fell head over heels in love with them. How can something so healthy taste so good?
Air Fryer Kale Chips (many varieties)
The wonderful thing about air fryer kale chips, is that they can be cooked in a variety of ways.
As long as you remember that each session of kale chips in the air fryer requires a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, then you won’t go wrong changing it for your favourite kale chips seasonings.
- Add Salt & Pepper for a Basic flavouring
- Add Garam Masala for an Indian flavouring
- Add Chinese 5 Spice for a Chinese flavouring
- Add Taco Seasoning for a Mexican flavouring
- Add Oregano for best of the Mediterranean flavouring
These are of course, some simple ideas of how to flavour up your air fryer kale chips. But it is totally up to you and what seasonings you have in or what seasonings you LOVE.
If I am not sharing with my Indian food hating husband, then I am garam masala all the way as I love it for a quick snack in the air fryer.
Why Cook Air Fryer Kale Chips?
Because it makes much better kale chips than what the oven does. It is quick, it is easy and it’s a perfect use of your leftover fresh kale.
You can also have a snack that you know is healthy and good for you.
Plus, unlike other vegetables, kale is so much faster to cook, so you’re not waiting around for your chips.
If you’re on a diet and your family isn’t, then it is perfect too. That is because while your family are enjoying a bowl of Instant Pot Popcorn on movie night, you can instead be enjoying a bowl of air fryer kale chips to yourself instead.
The BIGGEST EVER Air Fryer Kale Chips Mistake
The worst thing you can do when making kale chips in the air fryer is to cook less than 80g of fresh kale. That is because it takes off as the air circulates and makes it so that all the lovely kale vanishes out of your air fryer basket and into the bottom.
But the bulk of cooking at least 80g worth of fresh kale solves this problem.
I also recommend that you stay with your air fryer when it makes kale chips just to be safe. If you can smell burning its because a piece of kale has got dislodged and is stuck.
Though that only happens 1 in every 5 times that I have made air fryer kale chips.
How To Store Air Fryer Kale Chips?
For me, my air fryer kale chips went from the air fryer to being eaten. They were just so good, I was stood over the air fryer eating them all!
But if you have better discipline than me with your air fryer kale chips, then you can store them in zip loc bags. They keep their freshness and you can also take them to work with you.
