Welcome to my Whole 30 Hearty Brazilian Potatoes In The Instant Pot. Delicious steamed potatoes in a spicy Brazilian sauce.
Perfect for a side dish during your Whole 30 and loaded with fresh peppers and tomatoes.
I just think of Brazilian food and suddenly I am starving hungry and want to eat some RIGHT NOW!
I love the flavours from the garlic to the spices to the cream sauces I am just smitten.
We first came across Brazilian food when we moved to Portugal.
With the Portuguese language being very similar to Brazilian and often referred to as Brazilian Portuguese it means that we have a very big Brazilian Expat community living here in the Algarve.
Their main trade though tends to be restaurants. There are a LOT of steakhouses, a handful of Brazilian barbeque buffets and a few Brazilian casserole style restaurants.
Whenever we can we go out and have a Brazilian. And each time we do, we are never disappointed. It has always been food like you would imagine Grandma making but with a bit of a modern twist.

The meat that stands out the most when I go is beef. On the Brazilian barbeque you will have rump steak, sirloin, ribeye and some brisket.
It will be cooked to perfection in a homemade garlic marinade and will be cut for you at your table.
Its one of those eating out experiences where you stick to low carb side dishes, otherwise you just end up way too full.
But as well as the barbeque there will also be the choice of the buffet area too. There will be a LOT of breads, cheeses, meats and pate to go with the soup.
Then as well as this you will have loads of sides to go with your meat. Normally this will involve potatoes and rice several ways.
Well my favourite WAY is to have the potatoes steamed and then cooked in a delicious homemade spicy tomato sauce.
Its heaven and also has a strong garlic flavour and its simply divine for going with the meat.
So if you are looking for that new and exciting potato side dish on the Whole 30 and you’re bored of the spiralizer or jacket potatoes then here goes a great Instant Pot alternative.

Whole 30 Day 8
I am on day 8 and it is Monday and I feel great. Its that feeling that I did it and I made it through my first Whole 30 weekend.
I think the weekends are the hardest as we just don’t have the same focus on the weekend as we do during week and it feels really good.
It actually makes me really glad that I started this on a Monday and that I could have 5 days at it before it broke into weekend time.
Yet now I can be really pleased and talk about the fact that I am a week into my Whole 30. Day 8 of 30 is here!!!
What I ATE On Day EIGHT Of The Whole 30
I feel so good that I didn’t cheat and that I stuck to it through the weekend. I had terrible chocolate cravings on Sunday (the worst I have had so far) and to say that I did it and got through it feels fantastic.
Breakfast = Pepper Omelette
Lunch = Vegetable Frittata
Dinner = Breadless Burger & Salad
Exercise = 5km Run/Walk
For breakfast today it is another pepper omelette and this just shows that I am a creature of habit.
I am not a big breakfast fan and have never really been that into it so for me (someone that hated omelettes for many years) to be eating one for breakfast is fantastic.
For lunch I have a vegetable frittata. Basically it’s a Mediterranean omelette with a bit more to it, or in Britain you might call it a crustless quiche.
Either way you look at it it’s a big omelette with loads of fresh seasonal vegetables.
Then for dinner we have one of our homemade burgers. It is free of bread buns, free of badness and features a big burger, avocado, salad and of course the spicy potatoes that are featured in this recipe.
Buy The Kitchen Deluxe Steamer Basket
These Brazilian potatoes are our main recipe for day 8 of our Whole 30.
They wouldn’t be the same without our Instant Pot and cooking them in the Kitchen Deluxe Steamer Basket.
Its just one of those things that you MUST OWN if you want to keep your sanity as you go through the Whole 30 and for you to get the most out of it. Otherwise you end up stuck in that starving mentality.
That is where you had pasta or rice before and instead of replacing them you have that space on your plate where the pasta or rice once was.
All of a sudden it leaves you with these diet mentality because you are no longer full.
But in reality you need the likes of a steamer to be able to fill that missing section on your plate. And that is when we personally recommend that you use the Kitchen Deluxe Steamer Basket.
We have written reviews about it for the past 2 days and decided to do something different today and share what we thought was the most amusing review that we found on Amazon and here it is:
You probably think as a food blogger I am being really lazy here, BUT the point I want to make (which you will see if you read the review above) is that a lot of people rely on several different items to steam food.
This is something that I didn’t even know until I read the review above. I always thought people had an all in one but it seems that they didn’t?
So if you do have several items then read the Amazon review above, and see that its just a case of rinsing what you want to steam and then placing it in the Instant Pot.
