Yesterday, we showed you how to make Raspberry Jam No Pectin in the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker and today is the turn of an Instant Pot Peach Jam Recipe With Pectin.

I love peaches and any of the peach’s family. I love the fact that not only can you make peach jam with pectin, but you could also make apricot jam with pectin or nectarine jam with pectin, while following my main Instant Pot Peach Jam recipe.

That is what is wonderful about these fruits. They have a lot in common with each other and are perfect for mix and matching when you’re jam making.

My grandad used to grow peaches on his allotment, along with many other delicious in season fruits and vegetables. I loved to hang out with my grandad and watch as you saw growing process of your fruit and then got excited when you could take one from the tree.

Whenever I ate some fresh peaches or nectarines, my Grandad would be there with a big tissue ready to clean up the juices once I had finished.

Like any kid you couldn’t wait until you had another one and another one.

Even now as someone in their late 30’s I still have a peach addiction and there is no better way to enjoy your peaches, than to load them up into the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker and make a batch of peach jam with pectin.

Peach Jam Recipe With Pectin Vs Peach Jam Without Pectin

Did you know that one step in the peach jam recipe making process and you can change your peach jam recipe with pectin into a peach jam without pectin?

Yes REALLY!

Have a look at this picture of my peach jam. It is at the time when I have cooked it in the Instant Pot, taken the lid off and given it a quick stir.

What you see is exactly how it looks:

At this point if you lose the liquid and put it under a sieve it will be just made up of the thick poached peach pieces with the sugars. You can then blend it with a hand blender, and you have a peach jam ready for the fridge.

It will be super thick and won’t need any pectin adding. It can then be placed into mason jars and cooled in the fridge.

The plan B though if you want peach jam with pectin, is to take what you have and blend straight away. No waiting to remove the liquid and instead add pectin at this point.

It will go to the right consistency because of the pectin and you would stir in the pectin and then fridge in mason jars as usual.

I like both versions and love both peach jam with pectin and peach jam without pectin.

Can You Use Apricots In Peach Jam?

Absolutely! Mix and match any of the nectarines, peaches or apricots family. Just make sure that when you have chopped them all up, that after stones have been removed that you have a weight of 900g of fruit.

Otherwise, the balance of fruit to sugar will be off and your peach jam will not be very nice.

Instructions

  • Slice your fresh peaches, removing the stones as you go.
  • Remove the rind and the juice from a medium lemon.
  • Dump into your Instant Pot the peaches, lemon, caster sugar, honey and vanilla essence.
  • Place the lid on the Instant Pot, set the valve to sealing and cook for 2 minutes on manual pressure.
  • Allow natural pressure release for 10 minutes.
  • Manually release pressure after 10 minutes and stir the contents of your Instant Pot.
  • Add in your pectin/thickener and stir.
  • Using a hand blender, blend the contents of the Instant Pot until nearly smooth.
  • Pour into mason jars and place in the fridge.
  • Leave to chill for 12 hours and then freeze or eat!

Notes

Its important that you allow natural pressure release. Otherwise the syrup from the peaches will cause an Instant Pot explosion. Before using your mason jars for your jam making, do sterilise them.
A pectin option is jelly powder. Use a little packet (approximately 85g) and pour into your Instant Pot after the cooking process ends. It works as an excellent jam setter. If you don’t want to use a pectin or other thickener, then drain and remove the excess liquid and blend the peaches and you have peach jam without pectin.
The weight of peaches mentioned above, is based on the weight after you have removed the stones. When making peach jam in the Instant Pot, it is assumed that you will cook the skin too. It tastes good when made into peach jam and nobody will know that you didn’t peel them.
