Turkey Chilli In Instant Pot
I love doing themes on Recipe This and have been doing them, since we started Recipe This, way back in late 2015.
As we get closer and closer to Thanksgiving and then Christmas and with my love of turkey, I decided to do a 14 day series with a new turkey recipe a day.
This is day 10 and we have already done:
- Air Fryer Turkey Burgers
- Air Fryer Turkey Breast
- Air Fryer Turkey Crown
- Air Fryer Turkey Legs
- Air Fryer Turkey Thighs
- Air Fryer Turkey Wings
- Air Fryer Oven Turkey Dinner
- Ninja Foodi Turkey Breast
- Instant Pot Leftover Turkey Soup
But what makes this turkey chilli instant pot recipe different, is that it can be made all year around. You don’t need to have the excuse of Christmas to make it happen.
I love that regardless of whether it is spring, summer, autumn, or winter that you can get ground turkey (minced turkey) from the supermarket and use it to make a Weight Watchers chilli.
That is exactly what today’s recipe is all about and note you can vary the ingredients with different beans, make it spicier as its YOUR instant pot ground turkey chilli.

Plus, as well as our free newsletter, we also have a free instant pot mini course. It is ideal for instant pot beginners or those that want to get more confident with their instant pot. The free course runs for 5 days with a new lesson delivered each day to your inbox.
Can You Make A Healthy Instant Pot Turkey Chilli?
Yes, you sure can and you will love it. You can keep the calories down and make it Weight Watchers friendly by avoiding a sauté and avoiding deglazing with red wine.
Instead, you can focus on filling yourself up with the beans in the chilli and using ground turkey because is a leaner meat.
Plus, this transforms it into an easy instant pot turkey chilli because you are avoiding some common steps and it becomes an instant pot dump and start recipe.
Chilli Too Tomatoey
One common complaint about ground turkey chilli in the instant pot, is that it is too tomatoey.
This happens when you don’t have your ratio of ingredients right.
When too much tomato has been added (usually tinned tomatoes) and not enough ground minced turkey.
You can solve this problem by adding in more beans or by reducing the tomatoes and adding more meat.

Instant Pot Turkey Chilli Recipe Ingredients

Mince – The best turkey chilli starts with the quality of the turkey mince that you include in the recipe. I usually buy mine from Morrison’s or direct from the butchers, but either will do.
Tomatoes – I use a mixture of salsa and tinned tomatoes. This gives a much better flavour, and the salsa adds to the heat of the chilli. If you want a bigger kick to your chilli you can opt for salsa only and avoid tinned tomatoes.
Veggies – I love to add some veggies to my ultimate turkey chilli. I will add some carrots, onion, celery, and garlic. This will add flavour plus add some of your 5 a day into your dinner.
Beans – We all have a different preference when it comes to what beans we like to include in a chilli. I am a huge fan of black beans and don’t like kidney beans as much. I also love corn in my chilli too. So what I will do is have a mix of the three rather than it been kidney beans heavy.
Seasoning – There is no denying that a turkey chilli in the instant pot is going to be low on seasoning, as that is what gives it the X Factor. What I recommend is a mix of seasonings including chilli powder, cumin, coriander, garlic and of course salt and pepper.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this turkey chilli instant pot recipe, it has just been our instant pot pressure cooker. We have this one and it is amazing for stews and chilli recipes.
