Fudge Making Kit
Last summer we had an amazing day out. It was at Chatsworth House which is a stately home in the Derbyshire region of England.
Well, it was an amazing day out until something embarrassing happened.
Note Chatsworth House is where you will find the tweed wearing people (no jeans in sight) on a beautiful English afternoon and not somewhere that scruffy people hang out.
Well, I went from nicely dressed to scruffy in a couple of seconds when I fell on a wet patch and looked like I had fallen in a lake. Sofia came to my rescue (or tried to) and then fell in the exact same spot.
We just looked awful, though I put a smile on my face and took the kids for a walk around the maze and checked out the vegetables that grow on the Chatsworth estate.
Then I finished my day at my favourite place aka the farm shop. I love to go through the shop when I am done (don’t want to carry shopping around all day) and then find some fun and interesting things.
Two of my favourite purchases was a gingerbread making kit, which you can see in action in our air fryer gingerbread man cookies and then I also purchased a fudge kit. Something I have never had before and for someone that rarely makes fudge, I was fascinated by the idea of making some of our own.
This was back in the summer and the plan was over the Christmas holidays that I can watch the kids make their own microwave fudge using this fudge making kit.
The fudge making kit then sat in its box in our pantry and we saved until Christmas and now to complete our 28 day Microwave month I am finally sharing with you this easy microwave fudge recipe using a kit.
Can You Make Fudge In The Microwave?
Yes, you can. Most people I know that make fudge, do so with a microwave. And think about it for a moment….. when you make fudge, you are often just melting butter and melting chocolate, both of which are very easy to do in the microwave.
Plus, there are many different varieties of microwave fudge that you can make such as with condensed sweetened caramel.
What Do You Get With A Fudge Kit?
I had never used a fudge kit before and didn’t know what to expect. I expected quality because I knew it wasn’t a cheap as chips supermarket offering, but something that was worthy of being sold at a stately home.

The kids opened the box with excitement to find inside:
- 4 Different Fudge Flavours
- Chocolate Honeycomb Bites (taste like Crunchie)
- Chocolate Beans (similar to Smarties)
- Paper Liners
- Cardboard Trays
- Measuring Spoon
Though of course it might differ depending on what brand of fudge kits you have.
3 Ingredient Microwave Fudge
It then becomes a 3 ingredient microwave fudge.
Ingredient 1 is the weighed out fudge powder that kind of looks like the cake mix you get in the air fryer box cake.
Ingredient 2 is either butter or margarine that you need to provide.
Ingredient 3 is a little bit of water. Though this water measurement does vary between the different fudge mixes.
Calico Cottage Fudge Kit

For our make your own fudge kit we are using the Calico Cottage Fudge Kit and I am sure if you don’t know which one to use, you would like our opinion!
Well, after opening the Calico Cottage fudge kit I was impressed with the presentation and everything that is included.
The honeycomb bites I have to stop myself from bingeing on because they are delicious.
Then after microwaving the make your own fudge kit, one flavour stood out above all the others. And that was the microwave salted caramel fudge. That was the best and this was closely followed by the microwave chocolate fudge.
The vanilla fudge and the strawberry fudge had a big after taste and were really sickly and overpowering and we threw most of the vanilla and the strawberry out. And I love chocolate so for me to say this, then you know its too overpowering.
But I would gladly buy this make your own fudge kit just for the salted caramel.
Though my biggest complaint for when you are making all four fudges at once, is that there is not four card holders for the fudge so I needed to use some of my cookware which is not suitable for the size of fudge and made it look a little silly.
