Copycat Heinz Baked Beans Recipe In The Slow Cooker

  • Place your slow cooker on via its low setting.
  • Drain your haricot beans (very important otherwise your dish will be very salty), chop up your tomatoes and add them to the slow cooker.
  • Add all your different seasonings and your tomato sauce and mix well.
  • Chop up your thick sausages into quarters and also add them to your slow cooker.
  • Put the lid on your slow cooker and cook for 6 hours on the low setting.

Notes

I find that this recipe works amazing as a base for future casseroles and slow cooker meals. You could add meat and potatoes to it or more vegetables or like they have in Portugal add some delicious fish.
I added some sausages to my version and it makes a great alternative to the traditional sausage casserole that we have on our blog and instead of it being all sausage and tomato you have more of a filling meal.
