Airfryer Chicken Spiedie Recipe

Succulent cubes of skewed chicken, marinated in Italian flavours and served inside a homemade Italian bread roll.

  • Start by marinating your chicken. Dice your chicken into big sized chunks and place them into a mixing bowl. Squeeze the juice from the lemon into the bowl. Peel and thinly slice the garlic and add it too. Add the olive oil and the seasoning. Mix well with your hands until the chicken is well coated. Fill the skewers with the chicken and then place in the fridge overnight.
  • Next make the bread. Use our easy pull apart bread recipe and instead form that into cute hotdog shapes. When you have made it place the four bread rolls into the Airfryer and cook for 15 minutes at 185c/365f.
  • When they are done put them to one side and cook the chicken. Cook the chicken for 15 minutes on 185c/365f too.
  • Then fill the bread rolls with the skewed chicken and add some homemade mayonnaise to it.
  • Serve.


Because your bread needs time to prove, it is always best to make it about 2 hours before you plan to eat. That way if you are running late you have time to prepare it.
I used about 8 fresh leaves of mint to make this dish. Though it depends on how minty you like things. Then give it a clean and thinly slice it and then add it to your marinade.
When proving the bread you can do so 2-3 times though we did it twice. We also did this recipe in June when it is really hot so it proved really quick. So if you are cooking this in winter double your proving times.
You can place the bread on top of the Airfryer it will keep it warm while the chicken is cooking.
When we proved our bread we place the bowl on our car roof right in the sun. It really does speed up the process.
