Place a cup of water (240ml) into the instant pot or if using an 8qt or 10qt instant pot, increase this to 2 cups. Then add in your steamer basket. Chop the end off the asparagus, discard the end and the band and then place in the steamer basket.
Season the asparagus well with salt and pepper.
Place the lid on the instant pot, set the valve to sealing and pressure cook for 2 minutes followed by a quick pressure release.
Serve warm with a little butter and parmesan cheese and extra salt and pepper.
