Welcome to week 9 of us sharing what it is like as a food blogger week by week as we set up our food blogging business.
Many food bloggers share the story of food blogging from the point of view of either throwing money at it or years after they started. With Recipe This we wanted to share the story of budget food blogging right from the beginning.
After being part time over Christmas we have jumped straight back into it. We have had a nice rest and as we think that our food blog is still a baby it’s amazing to see how far we have already come.
We have being blogging again. All our food blog posts are scheduled minus the recipe posts for between the 21st and 30th January. This has been a challenge to get all this done. The plan is that we wanted two solid months of lots of content to be able to promote, but with Christmas in the way we extended this to three months. Then come February our focus can be more on marketing and ebook production rather than content. Of course the content will still play a big role but not the biggest role.
Social Media Changes
We are also in the process of updating what social media we do and when. We trained one freelancer last week and another will be trained today in a few changes we need doing. We do some social media ourselves but the promotional and basic social media is better outsourced as then it frees our time for more important tasks.
Our Facebook Group
We have also started a Facebook group for people like you and me. A place where fellow food bloggers can ask questions, seek advice or just want to brainstorm their next project.
The group will also have our food blogging posts as they happen and any relevant ones that we found from around the web.
We just need to work on adding the content next week and then starting the promotion of it!

Our Weekly Mailing List Promotion Has Started
We are all one for list building and our very small list (from this week) has started to receive a weekly email with details about what new content has been published to the blog.
It is never too early to start these promotions and we also have a four piece follow up sequence and a sales funnel in place as it all helps.
So next on the agenda is to finish the recipes for January. I have nine left to write and I have been amazed that I have not had writers block considering the topic.
I also want to get the Facebook Group all set up and happening so that I can promote it.
Then we will probably be working on Februarys recipe posts so that we can create our February recipe ebook. It is all rather exciting and with how well the first ebook has done for sales we are looking for more of the same.
