Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp Vs Mealthy Multipot Crisplid. Do you want to buy an electric pressure cooker that is also an air fryer? Well let me compare today the Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp with the Mealthy Multipot Crisplid.
I never thought 15 years ago, that I would be discussing with you today what brand of electric pressure cooker and air fryer multipot you should buy. Or that 7 years ago when I got excited over the air fryer that one day my air fryer would also pressure cook my salmon for me.
But today has come and it feels wonderful to be discussing the most amazing kitchen gadget tool to hit the market.
The thought of having either a Ninja Foodi or a Mealthy Multipot really appeals to me. You see I often have complaints about the air fryer or the pressure cooker and that is the fact I need to move it to the other gadget to finish the cooking process.
Imagine for a second that you want to make a rotisserie chicken and you already have an Instant Pot + an Air Fryer. Do you make Instant Pot Rotisserie Chicken or Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken? For me it was such a big debate that I even wrote a blog post discussing Instant Pot Rotisserie Chicken vs Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken.
What I found in my various cook outs is that Instant Pot Rotisserie Chicken tasted better, but it didn’t have the crispy skin that you get with an Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken.
You had to decide between taste and texture, something that I never wanted to compromise about. However, if you cook rotisserie chicken with a Ninja Foodi or the Mealthy Crisp Lid there is no compromise. You can pressure cook and then air fry at the end to make the beautiful skin.
Problem solved.
This is the exact reason why buying an air fryer and pressure cooker in one is ideal for many home kitchens.
It is also perfect for if you want to travel and then you don’t have to choose between taking your air fryer or pressure cooker. We went travelling in the summer of 2018 and took our Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. On our return we binged through our Air Fryer Recipes because we had missed it so much.
But if we owned the Mealthy Crisplid we could have taken it with us, without it feeling like we were missing out.
Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp Vs Mealthy Multipot Crisplid Comparison
Both the Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp and the Mealthy Multipot Crisplid are brands of electric pressure cookers that also double up as an air fryer.
The way the tendercrisp and the crisplid works is that you slot it onto your pressure cooker as an alternative lid and it cooks food like an air fryer would.
If you were to sum them up, you would say that they are an electric pressure cooker with a genius accessory that converts your electric pressure cooker into an air fryer.
Imagine these other recipe ideas:
- Melted Cheese. You’re making our Instant Pot Ziti and you want to have a layer of melted cheese on top. Simply swap the pressure cooker lid of your Instant Pot or Mealthy and add your crisp lid.
- Truly Crispy Anything. For me it starts with turning my Instant Pot Mediterranean Chicken Wings into crispy wings that are air fried at the end of the cooking process. They are succulent because of the Instant Pot, yet crispy thanks to the Air Fryer.
- Baked Heaven. The same can be said for your favourite baked foods or foods that you would associate with being made crispy in the oven. My favourite is Instant Pot Steamed Vegetables that are then finished off with the Air fryer. Just think of how much you love crispy baked broccoli.
- 2 In 1 Meals. Imagine our popular Air Fryer Chicken Thighs + Instant Pot Root Vegetable Mash. This is cooked using both the Air Fryer and Instant Pot. But instead it could all be cooked in the electric pressure cooker and then the Tendercrisp can be used at the end for the chicken thighs skin.

The Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp is an all one system that is purchased with everything included. It gives you an all in one cooking machine that will not only pressure cook but it will also air fry.
In a nutshell the Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp can:

And unlike a lot of other brands of multipots it will air fry for you. Which to me puts a kitchen gadget into a totally different league.
Pros: You get what you see on the tin, as my Grandma would say. It does everything you could possibly want it to do and then some. If you want an all in one machine that is not only a pressure cooker with the vast things a pressure cooker can do, but an air fryer too, then wait to be amazed. It is truly the kitchen gadget of your dreams.
Cons: I HATE their customer service. It is beyond awful. I contacted them to ask about the Ninja Foodi, prior to writing this comparison post. I got sent to a different email, followed by another different email and eventually after several emails, I never got a reply.
Any other company if you have been sent to the wrong department will forward you, and make sure the email gets a response. But not with Ninja Foodi. I have experienced similar customer service when I have asked for info about previous products in their range.
RecipeThis.com Opinion: I love the product. But for me the poor customer service worries me. If their customer service sucks prior to making a purchase, why should someone make a purchase, or what is the customer service like after you have made a purchase. As well as this when I buy a product at a premium price (the Ninja Foodi is expensive) I expect a better customer service than if I bought a cheap product.
Mealthy Multipot Crisplid
The Mealthy Multipot Crisplid is a real genius idea. Unlike purchasing the Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp with the Mealthy you don’t have to buy everything at once. You can start by just purchasing the Mealthy Multipot and then purchase the Crisplid later. That way you can get familiar with the pressure cooking first, rather than learning it all at once and feeling like you have information overload.
As well as this the Mealthy Crisplid works with the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. If you already have an Instant Pot or the Mealthy Multipot you just need to get the crisp lid and you’re all set.
Pros: I LOVE their customer service. It is beyond amazing. The owner of the Mealthy is a regular on the Facebook Group and the team behind Mealthy are always there and happy to help you. It’s one of the best customer service experiences I have had from kitchen gadget brands.
Cons: It is not suitable for people that suffer from epilepsy. That is because of the bright lights that are used while the Crisplid is in operation. The Mealthy Crisplid is also not suitable for those that have a different inner pot to those that you get with the Mealthy or the Instant Pot. It needs to be that stainless steel inner pot for it to work.
RecipeThis.com Opinion: It’s the best Instant Pot Accessory ever. It stops you from being tied to one brand of pressure cooker and then you can just buy the crisp lid or get the Mealthy and the Crisplid depending on what your current kitchen gadgets set up is. I like to treat it like an Instant Pot Accessory and think of it as an add on to what you already have.

Final Thoughts
For me I am on team Crisplid. That is because not only do they have a much better customer service, but they are cheaper and you can use it with several different brands of electric pressure cookers.
Because both the Ninja Foodi and the Mealthy Multipot do a similar thing, for me it comes down to value for money and getting something that I believe will last a long time.
I have used the Mealthy Multipot for a while now and have to admit that I love it.
