Instant Pot Steamed Tomatoes. Super fast and simple and the perfect use out of your juicy tomatoes. Use my Instant Pot steamed tomatoes method for quickly peeling your tomatoes or for batch cooking tomatoes for the freezer.

Here I am with number 3 of 5 in our 5 part international Instant Pot recipe series and I am buying tomatoes in France.
I love grocery shopping in France. It is the choice of food that is on offer and no matter what you want to cook you’re never short on the critical ingredients.
Tomatoes is a key example of this. You will visit a French market or a French supermarket and there will be 10 different types of tomatoes.
Of course, I want to try them all.
That is why when I found a box of mixed tomatoes at a supermarket in France, I had them in the trolley before you had the chance to shout TOMATOES.
Don’t these tomatoes all look amazing?

It also got me thinking that out of all the vegetables that I have featured on my Meatless Monday’s in 2018, I have not posted at all about tomatoes.
I have no idea why because tomatoes are one of my all-time favourite foods. My Grandad grew them in his allotment when I was growing up and I have been obsessed about them ever since.
Two out of my three kids adore fresh tomatoes and no matter how I cook them will argue over the last one!
Plus, living in Portugal they are often in season and they are so delicious. It is unusual if at any one time that I don’t have a big batch of them in my fridge, or that I don’t have homemade tomato sauce in the freezer.
This makes it perfect timing for Instant Pot Steamed Tomatoes.
Instant Pot Steamed Tomatoes don’t take long to steam and are all done in just 0 minutes with manual pressure release.
I started World War 3 back in 2017 when I said that Instant Pot Broccoli tasted horrible if it was cooked for 0 minutes in the Instant Pot and it was like it was raw. Well I have finally found a vegetable to cook in the Instant Pot where 0 minutes is spot on and this is with Instant Pot Tomatoes!

You can also use any type of tomatoes for your Instant Pot, though as we were in France it was like a rainbow of colours entering the Instant Pot and we just wanted to eat them all up with some olive oil and didn’t want to wait for them to steam!
Instant Pot Skinless Tomatoes

Some people hate the skin of the tomatoes. My daughter Sofia is included in this list. You see a trail of skin wherever she has been with her fruit, and tomatoes is no exception.
Just yesterday I found lots of peach skin in our bath, because 3 year olds would rather leave it there, than put it in the bin!
But by steaming tomatoes in the Instant Pot you have the easiest way ever to remove the skin from your tomatoes. It slips off like magic.
You literally hold your fork against the tomato and it slips off.
Perfect for if you want to make a dish with skinless tomatoes.

zero minutes???
Hi Richard,
Thanks for your message.
Zero minutes is when you set your electric pressure cooker to cook for 0. Then it beeps and is done once it goes to pressure.
Kind regards
Sam
