Welcome to my ice cream maker creamy Rolo ice cream recipe.
I used to remember Rolos. They were this delicious chocolate that we used to get many, many years ago when we lived in England. We used to get a packet of them each and would eat them so fast and blink and you would miss them.
Though, who could blame us?
It was a round little chocolate with a caramel style centre.
There were not the healthiest thing in the world, but we loved them and life wouldn’t be the same without them. Then we moved to Portugal and they became expensive and soon became something that we bought rarely, but still enjoyed.
So when we got our ice cream maker we decided that this would be one of the things we would have in them. They reminded me of the lovely chocolate pieces with a caramel centre that you got at the help yourself ice cream units at Disney World.
In an ice cream maker they are perfect, because they stay whole and can become delicious little treats inside your usual vanilla ice cream. Or make it even more special by adding some caramel sauce to the mix too, or whatever it is you prefer. - Crush up your Rolos so that you have a mix of sizes with caramel oozing out of them.
- Place your vanilla ice cream and the Rolos into the ice cream maker and mix in the ice cream machine for 20 minutes.
- When it is done they will be like broken chocolate into ice cream and have a lovely Italian look about them.
- Freeze for an hour or so and then serve.
This can work very well with a lot of different chocolates with vanilla ice cream, but it works best with smaller chocolate that can be broken down quicker.
