Welcome to the Brunch WordPress Theme On The Genesis Framework and our step by step theme change.
I am one of those people that is absolutely addicted to a change in WordPress theme and have changed my blog themes that many times over the years. So it is quite a surprise now to be sharing with you (on the week of our first anniversary) our first theme change since we started Recipe This.
We are moving onto the Brunch Theme which for those of you that are unaware of it, is the latest theme from the same person that brought you foodie pro which I know the majority of my fellow food bloggers are on.
We were actually looking for a new theme for a while because daily dish that we were on before we felt was lacking in the theme features and we wanted something that was current for 2016.
But what we really wanted to do (because we share everything on here with our fellow food bloggers) is to give you a watch over our shoulder prime view of our move onto the Brunch Theme. And then you can share the big event with us and for those of you in particular that find it hard to move themes or are worried about how complicated it is, can see just how simple Dominic makes the techy side of food blogging.#BrunchWordpress #Food Theme On #Genesis – Our Step By Step Theme Change Via @recipe_thisClick To Tweet
So pull up a chair, pour yourself a glass of wine and follow our move onto Brunch:
Before we begin
If you have not set up a food blog yet then I suggest you start with our post showing you how to start a food blog.
It will show you how to set up the basics and then you can come back to this post for the Brunch theme once you have the bare bones of your blog in place.
Or for a quick introduction follow the video below:
Stage 1 – Installing Brunch Theme
The first part of the process is the purchasing and then installing of the brunch theme. It is very simple to do, though if you already have content on your blog theme you will have to update lots of settings before everything will work correctly.
Stage 2 – What You Need To Know
In this second video we will be covering a variety of things that you need to know from a techy point of view in order for your food blog to run efficiently using the Brunch Theme.
We will be covering website speed, website code and so much more.
Stage 3 – Sketching Your Plan
The first thing we do when we move onto a new theme is to sketch out a plan. We will do this the old fashioned way with paper and a pencil. We will look at the principles of our site and what we want where. That way we know that the theme will work for us and that everything will be in its correct place.
You also want to look at what graphics you will need and how you plan to make the site unique for you.
Plus with the site change being a work in progress we suggest you save this blog post and then you can watch over our shoulder as we edit it along the way!
