Smoothie Lollies

Welcome to my Smoothie Lollies. I originally published these refreshing ice lollies back in the summer of 2017 and 3 years on, felt it was the right time to make a load more and talk about them even more with you.

These lollies (or popsicles if you live in the US) are made especially for my little ones and are perfect for if you want something healthy this summer.

These Smoothie Lollies are completely Paleo, perfect for vegans, kid friendly and full to bursting with four different fresh fruits.

On the 26th of September 2016 I achieved something that I once thought was impossible.

That was to complete my family. After lots and lots of heartache my third and final child entered the world.

There were no pregnancy announcements or pregnancy pictures on Facebook or on Instagram.

Not because I wasn’t excited because I was over the moon, but because of fear that something was going to go wrong and how would I cope with everyone’s sympathy.

So old school friends were rather shocked when Dominic revealed my pregnancy at 34 weeks when hardly anyone even knew I was expecting.

But I was and the amazing Jorge entered our world in September of 2016:

He is now a beautiful 3 and a half year old. He is mischievous just like his big brother, full of character like this sister and is at that wonderful part of his life when everything is an adventure as he learns everything for the first time.

One thing on his mind is always the food.

I remember back when he was turning one and the inspiration behind these smoothie lollies was to find something new and exciting for a one year old to get into.

You just can’t go wrong and combined into smoothie lollies and you have something amazing for the little ones. Then as they get older they can help you make them.

Fast forward 3 years and Jorge has tried as many different foods as me. He is always there when I recipe test new recipes and always wants to stir food in the instant pot, place food in the air fryer, or see what I am loading into the blender.

Yet these smoothie lollies is where his love for real food began.

Lollies Vs Popsicles?

An ice lolly, a popsicle or an ice pole is the exact same thing. The Europeans call it an Ice Lolly, the Americans a Popsicle and the Australians call it an Ice Pole.

The popsicle is a brand of American Ice Pops and if you asked for an actual Ice Pop many Americans would have no idea what you’re talking about.

No matter what you call them they are one of the same. Usually associated with lots of frozen fruit, along with liquid and sugar for a delicious summer treat.

Or if you are lucky a fruit split, that is instead filled in the centre with ice cream.

Smoothie Ice Lollies Ideas

My smoothie lollies started with my love for coconut milk popsicles. The basic summer lollies recipe that I always follow.

They just alter as I add in different flavours or use up different leftovers.

The idea today with our smoothie ice lollies is that you create your base first, like with my coconut milk popsicles and then add in different fruits.

Then create a layer of each fruit inside of your popsicle mould.

The flavours for our ice lollies include:

  • Kiwi
  • Blueberries
  • Mango
  • Strawberries

We also used just fresh fruit, but it works perfectly well with frozen fruit too. It was a case that these fruits were in season when we made them.

You can mix and match it with any of your favourite fruits, though mango is my all-time favourite.

How To Make Smoothie Ice Lollies?

Making ice lollies is easy and the only hard part, is separating the ingredients to make the separate sections that you will be loading into your ice lolly moulds.

Though, I do love it as a healthy alternative to baking for something fun in the kitchen to do with your kids.

You start by loading the base ingredients into the blender:

Blend the ingredients, separate into four lots, keeping one lot in the blender.

Now make your fruit sections:

  • Blend Blueberry first and load this first into the mould.
  • Next add another ¼ of the base into the blender and mix with fresh kiwi. Pour into the mould.
  • Next add fresh mango and ¼ of the base and blend. Load into the mould leaving enough room for one final section.
  • Next add the final base into the blender with fresh strawberries, blend and pour.

Once this is done, the smoothie moulds are ready for the freezer.

Slimming World Ice Lollies

We make our ice lollies with coconut milk, which is not a good idea if you follow Slimming World and want to keep your syns low.

If that is YOU and you follow Slimming World, Weight Watchers or count calories my suggestion is to swap coconut milk for fromage frais and swap maple syrup for stevia.

Then make them in a similar way to how we make our smoothie lollies.

Dump & Pour Ice Lollies

I know some of you will not want the hassle of making a layer of lots of different fruits into your moulds and would rather just have one fruit and then use our base smoothie mixture.

If that’s YOU I have 2 different smoothie combos that are my favourite:

  • Mango Smoothie Ice Lolly – Double your mango quantity and make just mango smoothie ice lollies. We do this a lot especially when making mango avocado smoothies.
  • Raspberry Smoothie Ice Lolly – Triple the amount of raspberry, leave out the other fruits and make some yummy raspberry smoothie lollies. They also make a fantastic smoothie too.

Kitchen Gadgets:

Smoothie Lollies Ingredients:

  • 1 Large Banana
  • 450 ml Coconut Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 50 g Fresh Blueberries
  • 50 g Fresh Mango
  • 50 g Fresh Strawberries
  • 50 g Fresh Kiwi


  • Load sliced banana, a can of coconut milk and maple syrup into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Separate into 4 equal amounts, keeping one in the blender.
  • Add a fruit into the blender, blend, pour, clean the blender and repeat the process until you have done your four layers.
  • You can also have the fruit layers in any order and choose any fruit.
  • Freeze for 3-4 hours and serve.


I recommend cleaning the blender with a little water between each fruit. Otherwise the colours will end up mixed and it wont look as good.
You can swap maple syrup for honey or stevia. You can also swap coconut milk for Greek yoghurt, fromage frais or quark.

    Oh wow!!! This was the best healthy lollies recipe I’ve ever made. I doubled the batch and used the 2nd batch for a smoothie. Sooooo so good!
