Egg Cups In Air Fryer
Air Fryer Egg Cups are my new thing. With the air fryer you can end up finding a new air fryer recipe you love and then obsessing over it.
I have had several air fryer recipes that have had this effect on me since I bought my first air fryer back in 2011.
My air fryer rotisserie chicken, my air fryer fries, my air fryer roast potatoes and of course my air fryer onion rings to name a few.
But egg cups in the air fryer, did take me a while to get into them. I bought some good deals last summer in the Amazon summer sale, one of which was a big bundle of different silicone moulds.
But I got busy and summer with lots of beaches and waterparks got in the way and before I knew it, winter had arrived.
And these cute looking bright coloured silicone moulds were still sat in their box looking sparkly and begging to be used in the air fryer.
Using a classic omelette mixture, I made my first ever batch of air fryer egg cups and fell head over heels in love.
Since then I have made so many different varieties of air fryer egg cups and today wanted to share with you how to do them, what egg bites are and just how easy egg bites are for an air fryer make ahead breakfast or snack.
Well, that is what I said about air fryer egg cups in early 2020, and 2 years on, I am still obsessed with them. I take them on picnics, they are my travel snack and they are also my favourite ever air fryer breakfast.

What Are Air Fryer Egg Cups?
Air Fryer Egg Cups are like a mix of your favourite egg snacks. They have a similar ingredients list to our Instant Pot Egg Bites and depending on what ingredients you add in they can be similar to a crustless quiche, an omelette or a frittata.
If you love frittatas, omelettes or quiches, then you will love our air fryer egg cups.
Can I Use Silicone Cups In Air Fryer?
As soon as I mention using the air fryer to make egg cups and using my brightly coloured silicone moulds, I am sure you will be wondering if you can use silicone in an air fryer?
Well the answer is a big fat YES and that silicone in the air fryer is one of the best air fryer accessories you could ever own.
This is because the silicone slips off after cooking and doesn’t leave a mark on it. Forget bad washing up where you soak dishes, these are like MAGIC.
Plus, you can use your silicone moulds in the air fryer for other air fryer dishes too.
Are Air Fryer Egg Cups Freezer Friendly?
YES they are! Remove your cooked air fryer egg cups from their silicone moulds and allow them to cool. Then place your air fryer egg bites into freezer bags and place in the freezer.
If you are doing a summer picnic, then get them out when you get the ice packs out of the freezer and as they thaw, they can keep your drinks cool.
Then they are wonderfully chilled for when you eat your picnic at the beach.
Egg Cups Air Fryer Ingredients
Eggs – I recommend two eggs when doing a batch of egg cups. Roughly, depending on how much filling you are adding this will make 6-9 egg cups.
Milk – You can keep your egg cups milk free, but I find that a little milk, just like with quiche will stretch a long way.
Fillings – You will also want to choose some good fillings to go in your egg cups. I like cheese and ham, cheese and bacon, red pepper, pepper and cheese the most. But its all about personal choice.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this egg cups air fryer recipe it has just been our Philips Air Fryer XL. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes.

3 Ingredient Air Fryer Egg Cups
The basis of an air fryer egg cup is eggs, diced filling and seasoning. Though you can mix and match on these 3 depending on how you would like your egg cup to taste.
Here are a few egg cup suggestions:
Go Classic – Add sliced mixed peppers, a little bacon and some oregano for the Starbucks flavour.
Cheese and Ham – Add sliced cooked ham or bacon along with your favourite grated cheese and you have a delicious cheese and ham egg cup. Add a splash of milk and they will taste just like the filling of a cheese and ham quiche.
Sausage and Pepper – My favourite is to add mixed peppers along with cooked sausages, spring onion and cheese. OMG this just tastes too good to be flourless and the best option for a make ahead snack for work and for the kids school lunch boxes.
Quiche Taste – With the classic egg cup it will taste very similar to an omelette and some people don’t like it to taste that way.
Instead add a splash of milk and not only will it make more egg cups, but it will taste more like a quiche.
Favourite Omelette – Do you have a favourite omelette? If so, imagine adding the omelette ingredients into an egg cup mould and cooking it in the air fryer instead. Add the fillings first, then pour beaten egg over it.

Air Fryer Egg White Bites
During our weekend session of ice cream maker recipes including updating our vanilla ice cream maker recipe, raspberry ripple ice cream and several others we found ourselves left with a huge amount of leftover egg whites that needed using up.
What I thought would be interesting would be to make some egg white mini omelette cups and see how they compared.
What I learnt was:
- I must not overfill them
- They taste amazing
- They need to cool
I even surprised myself with how good the egg white bites tasted, though they do need to cool down a bit before serving.
I filled the egg cups with chickpeas, fresh spinach, mixed pepper and some paprika. Along with egg whites and salt and pepper. Yummy!
From 8 lots of homemade ice cream in the ice cream maker it made a huge bowl of leftover egg whites that was enough for approximately 20 white egg cups.
Much better than wasting those leftovers!!!
Egg Cups In Air Fryer Tips & Tricks
- It is totally up to you what fillings you use, but avoid high water veggies, as it will make them watery.
- You can make them ahead and take them on picnics, as a work snack and even in the kids packed lunch boxes.
- The best filling is veggies such as mushrooms, peppers, and grated carrots. So, if you have any of these leftover, use those.
Interesting Air Fryer Trick – Always use silicone cups. They wipe clean and don’t require much cleaning and can use them a lot in these types of recipes.

Thank you for the recipes! Can please you tell how much to adjust temperature and time for the jumbo three and a half inch silicon cups?
Hi Bob,
I would say just by guessing i would put them in for 20 minutes at 180c/360f then stick in a cocktail stick and see if it comes out clean if not drop the temp down to 160c/320f and add an extra few minutes until the cocktail stick comes out clean 🙂
