Air Fryer Quiche

We love air fryer quiche and even featured how to make it in our debut air fryer cookbook, the complete air fryer cookbook.

You can air fry quiche just like you would bake it in the oven, you will just need a smaller sized quiche dish. For example, we have this loose bottom pie tin that is 20cm/8 inches and perfect for the job.

I will then make a quiche for days out, when we are having a buffet or just for a treat for dinner. Though I think I make them most for picnics!

But making the pastry first, then rolling it out, then lining a quiche dish, can all be time consuming.

Plan B is to make an impossible quiche, which if you have not heard of one before, then it’s the in between of the air fryer frittata and a classic quiche with a crust.

You simply add flour to the quiche batter (the eggs and milk) and then this creates the thick pretend crust that defines the quiche look.

Though when you look at the ingredients list, for this pastry less quiche, you are simply losing the butter, as all ingredients are really the same.

If you would like to try more picnic staples in the air fryer, then do check out: air fryer egg and bacon pie, air fryer cheesecake, air fryer sausage rolls, and of course air fryer cheese whirls.

Can You Cook A Quiche In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can cook a quiche in the air fryer and its delicious. You simply need a pie tin or a loose bottom one like we are using that fits the size of your air fryer.

Though note, that the food often cooks just from the top in the air fryer (depending which air fryer you own), so you might need to cover with foil if getting over brown on top.

What Can You Use Instead Of Pie Crust For Quiche?

Instead of a classic air fryer pie crust, what you can do instead is the crustless quiche in air fryer.

It’s a fantastic trick and is referred to as impossible, because when you read the recipe, you’re thinking to yourself THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE.

So, what you do, is mix all ingredients together, the flour then sinks and creates an amazing crust without actually making a crust.

Is Milk Better Than Heavy Cream In Quiche?

Yes, we find that milk is much better in quiche than heavy cream, double cream, or crème fraiche.

The milk mixes best with the egg and it creates a fantastic light filling for your quiche.

Eggs & Milk – We mix eggs and milk together in a jug and it makes the pouring process so much easier.

Flour – This is the interesting part of a pastry less quiche, you mix the flour with the eggs and milk to create a thick mixture that gets poured into the quiche dish.

Filling – Then with the filling you can mix and match depending on what you like. I love cheese, onion, tomato and usually some fresh basil in my air fryer quiche.

Can You Recommend An Air Fryer?

I often get asked which air fryers I recommend and which one I use. In 95% of our air fryer recipes, we use either the Philips Air Fryer XL or the Cosori XL because they are the best ones, we have found out of many air fryers we have tried over the years. You can click on the links above and read up on them. But if you would rather have a dual air fryer we recommend this Ninja Dual (make sure you order the right one as not all are good) or the Philips Dual.

How Long To Cook Quiche In Air Fryer?

We recommend you air fry quiche for 30 minutes. This will help cook it in the middle and make sure it is fully set. Though we recommend putting a cocktail stick/toothpick into the centre to make sure it is fully set.

Ninja Air Fryer Quiche

You can also cook this air fryer quiche in your Ninja Foodi and use the air fryer basket. Or if using a dual air fryer, follow the recipe the same, just find an alternative to our pie tin that will fit.

  1. Hi Sam,
Help! Please and thank you. I’ll start with a simple request. How can I get your recipes converted from metric to imperial? I keep clicking on imperial (on my iPhone) and nothing happens. It refreshes the page, still metric.
Sign me “still learning” and not just with air fryers. 😊

    1. Hi Karen C,

We seem to be having some issues with this recipe with regards to imperial and metric, but if you have our second cookbook Air Fryer Easy Everyday we have it in there with both types of measurements so there is no need to press any button, or here is a list of ingredients after i have pressed the imperial button:

      4.41 oz Self Raising Flour
      5 Large Eggs
      8.12 tbsp Whole Milk
      1 Medium Tomato
      1 Medium Red Onion
4 slices ham, chopped into chunks
      3 oz Grated Cheddar Cheese
      2 Tsp Mixed Herbs
      2 Tsp Dried Oregano
      Salt & Pepper

      hope this helps 🙂

Beyond spectacular! I replaced ham with 200g smoked salmon, and cheddar with Asiago because we don’t get cheddar where we live in Italy. This recipe is so easy to make and superb! I turned off the bottom element in my Delonghi airfryer and covered the quiche with tin foil for the first 20 minutes. This recipe is a keeper!

Hi, I’m eating this 5star before I’ve even made it as it looks amazing, AND I’m very intrigued by the addition of the flour! I’ve made a few of your recipes and all have been great 😃..
This is my question for you.. When making quiche in Airfryer, do I use the “bake” setting, or the “airfry setting”?
    Thanks& have a great Sunday..

    1. Hi Lorna,

We just use the air fry setting for nearly everything the bake setting will decrease the speed of the fans to bake the food, so you could try on the bake setting and same time and temp as it should not ruin it 🙂

Thought these would not turn out but they did. They were delicious and i like to add some extra oregano in mine because i love the stuff!
