Many of my readers were asking me if they could use the soup maker for the 7 day cabbage soup diet plan, another selection of readers was asking me the same thing for the instant pot pressure cooker.

So, what I decided to do, was to follow the 7 day cabbage soup diet plan, then create a cabbage soup recipe for the soup maker and one for the instant pot.

But I have something even better than our soup maker cabbage soup for you to check out first.

It is our soup maker ecookbook. It includes all our popular soup maker recipes and fantastic for variety with cooking with the soup maker. Or browse our site as we have plenty of soup maker recipes that are easy to recreate at home and we have been showing people how to use the soup maker since 2014.

What’s the worst thing that could happen in the middle of a second batch of soup maker cabbage soup?

You guessed it, I was on the third day of the cabbage soup diet and my soup maker died on me.

Literally, nothing was happening, and I was just about to take photos and finish this soup maker cabbage soup recipe for you.

I moved everything over to the instant pot for my instant pot detox cabbage soup and prayed that the new soup maker Dominic ordered me, would arrive exceptionally FAST.

Like everything there is the silver lining, because I have grown to hate the Morphy Richards Soup Maker for a while now and I was dreaming about buying a Ninja Soup Maker instead.

So, what started off as a cabbage soup cooked in the Morphy Richards Soup Maker, became my first ever recipe in my new Ninja Soup Maker.

It was delicious and it was fantastic being able to watch my soup cook and to have a soup maker with a much stronger blender.

Best Soup For Weight Loss

I have created this cabbage soup, specifically for the cabbage soup diet, or as some people call it the wonder soup diet.

But it’s not as high on cabbage as you would expect. Many cabbage soups that are made for diet, end up giving you excessive wind and make you feel rough, rather than it feeling like it is the best soup for weight loss.

Instead this cabbage soup recipe is more about mixed vegetables (including cabbage) rather than just cabbage and water.

This is also the best soup for weight loss because it has a LOT of vegetables in it that are ideal for losing weight and also make you feel good. Its amazing after 2-3 days on this soup how much energy you have.

But of course, you don’t need to be on a diet to enjoy it and it is also delicious with a bread roll at lunch time.

Cabbage Soup Diet In Soup Maker

Quite often, when you follow the cabbage soup diet you will be the only one in the household following it. That makes it ideal for making in the soup maker. You can make a smaller batch and then you can also use the soup maker to reheat the cabbage soup as and when you want some.

Simply put it on to make smooth soup for 2-3 minutes, stop it and then pour cabbage soup into a bowl.

Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe Ingredients

You can mix and match your cabbage soup diet recipe ingredients depending on what vegetables are in season and what are your favourite vegetables. The cabbage soup diet rules state that you can’t eat starchy vegetables such as potatoes, butternut squash, parsnips, peas and corn, but nearly all other vegetables would be perfect.

Here are the cabbage soup ingredients we used:

  • Cabbage
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Courgette/Zucchini
  • Spring onion
  • Celery sticks
  • Carrots

Also, remember dried seasonings are always allowed. Add your favourite Indian seasonings and you have a curry soup or add lemon and garlic for a Mediterranean soup.

Notes

Liquid. Its important that you add the liquid for the soup in the soup maker first. Otherwise it is easy for the soup to stick at the bottom and for your soup maker to break.
Replace. If you don’t want your soup too high in tomatoes, then half the tinned tomatoes and add vegetable stock at the bottom instead.
Time. The Morphy Richards soup maker has a standard 28 minute cook time, whilst the Ninja Foodi Soup Maker has 30 minutes, just go with whatever the setting is on your soup maker.
Peppers. You can use any colour and any type you like. During our first batch of this soup we used red and in the second batch green.

    • Hi Karen,

Yes that is correct, we tried with some water as well but it turned out like dishwater, so we just used the tinned tomatoes and they had enough liquid in, and the texture was just right 🙂
